By Your Hand

by Paul Lytle

It is by Your hand the water falleth still
when drought and hunger ravishes the land.
The sun emerges by Your sacred will,
lest water overcome us. By You we stand.

It is by Your hand that neighbors still are caring
when lawsuits linger ’bout in every yard.
The state still functions, only by Your daring;
You’ve softened all we’ve made so very hard.

      By Adam’s sin we’ve brought deservèd death,
yet You exert Yourself to maintain life.
We’ve caused a fallen world, yet by Your breath
You’ve given us a stay of flame and strife.

Then Calvary removed that fractured core.
Your hand no more maintains, but now restores.
