A Draught of Heavenly Alchemy

by Daniel Morgan

Breath in and feel the salty spray
Inside your lungs. The sea coast fills
Horizons past the white-walled path.
Gaze out and feel it far away.

The tropic rock we walk upon
From its firmness issues forth
Fresh water. Rest and drink
Yourself a satiating dram.

Soon the wine of gladness pours,
Enough for us to swim to Him.
And out it comes, now over us,
A propitiating flood to ford.

The flow of blood that we partake
Mingles as we share His wine,
And wash cool with rock-water
Our feet before the crystal lake.
