Need

by Paul Lytle

I feel some need to write
of violins and strings
That voice upon your sight
and touch, and brings
a new song to sing
in my crowded night.

I feel some need to feel
your presence at my side,
and with your touch you heal
my heart and broken eyes
to see the glory of your skies,
and all my worries steal.

I feel some need to speak
of night’s daydreams of you,
and a life I feel we seek
in our days and days renew,
so we no longer do
those things that make us weak.

I feel some need to hide
from glories of your peace,
and all alone abide
within my angry seas.
I find I think I need
to cower from your skies,
I feel some need to hide.
